Yes, we have lots of complete beginners that start training with us, and they are all very well looked after.

No, just come down and start training, and start learning.  You will get fitter and fitter over time as you join more lessons. If you have any health conditions and/or injuries please let us know about these, and how they affect you, as we will need to discuss these with you.  Depending on how serious they are, you may find it useful to speak to your physio/doctor about your plans to start training with us first.

To start with, for your first few classes, you’ll only need shorts/joggers/leggings and a t-shirt with no zips and/or buttons on any item.

Yes, you can train in different classes but must attend lessons that are appropriate for your level of skill.

Yes, lots of our members compete in all the disciplines we teach here.

Most of our members are 18 and over but, if you’re a few years younger than this, please send us an email so we can discuss your options.  If you’re under 18, we do need to check that your parents/guardians are happy for you to train with us.  And we also have Children’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes for those aged 6-15.

No, most of our members are in their twenties and thirties but the number of those training in their forties and fifties (and beyond) is growing too.  Age is definitely not a barrier but, as we get older, we do need to consider things – such as the impact that each martial art will have on our body – a little more.  Especially, if we haven’t trained in that discipline before.

Please have a look at the videos on this site, on our Instagram and YouTube pages etc. so you get a good idea of what each discipline involves.  You’ll see most focus on striking or grappling whereas MMA is a blend of both.  You’re then very welcome to visit and watch some lessons, which should help you decide where you want to start your martial arts journey.
