What Muay Thai Classes Can I Join?
Are you looking for Muay Thai classes near me? Students can take part in our Beginner, Mixed Muay Thai sessions or Intermediate/Advanced Muay Thai classes. If you have never trained before then please join our Beginner Classes, which are currently on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, as we cover the real basics in these sessions. From here, you’ll soon move (normally after 2/3 months) to our Mixed Muay Thai lessons. Many students who train here started with no (or very little) experience and you will be very well looked after. Alternatively, if you’d like to visit and just watch a class to start off with, then you’re very welcome to – please get in touch so we can advise on the best day/time for you to do this.
What Should I Expect from my Muay Thai Classes?
Our Mixed Muay Thai lessons focus on the fundamentals of the discipline. All start with an intense conditioning workout and then move on to technique drills, partner work, pad work, sparring (in Intermediate/Advanced classes), and further conditioning exercises. Equally, if you believe you are experienced enough to attend an Intermediate/Advanced Session please get in touch and let us know how much you’ve trained, if you’ve competed etc. Anton and China (our Muay Thai Coaches) normally need to see everyone train in a Mixed session before they join an Intermediate/Advanced Class but this does depend on the above. We also have Muay Thai-Fitness classes that are intense 45 minute workouts that focus on the cardio and strength and conditioning needed for Muay Thai, rather than the technique.
What Do I Need to train in Muay Thai?
For your first few Mixed classes all you’ll need are shorts/leggings and a t-shirt (with no zips and/or buttons on either item) as you’re welcome to borrow our boxing gloves to start off. However, if you already have your own wraps, boxing gloves (14oz or 16oz) etc. please bring them along too. After this, and as you get more experienced, you will need your own hand wraps, boxing gloves, gum shield and shin/instep protectors. You may also like to wear a groin or chest protector. If you’re unsure what you’ll need and when, please just speak to Anton or China when you’re here.
What Should I Wear for Muay Thai?
For your first session you will need shorts/leggings and a t-shirt with no zips and/or buttons on any item. If they do, you won’t be able to train in them, so please double check. If you have your own gloves, hand wraps, gum shield and boxing boots please bring them along but, if you don’t, it’s not a problem.
Can I Have a Trial Muay Thai Class?
Potential students are very welcome to try out one of our classes for free. Just click here or on the ‘Sign up for a trial class’ button and complete the form. Please note, we ideally ask for at least 48 hours’ notice as this gives us plenty of time to respond to your request!

All our classes start with a vigorous conditioning warm up and instructors then move on to demonstrate techniques, set ups and positions. Students then drill these and use them in the sparring that follows. Sparring is not included in our beginner classes but is usually included in all others. This is because it enables students to put what they’ve learnt to the test and because many of our members participate in BJJ competitions throughout the year. And, finally, for anyone planning to join our lunchtime BJJ lessons you’re welcome to arrive late/leave early if you need to!
